Dr. Tolu Aderemi, director of the JAALS Foundation, found himself in a moment of profound contemplation while discussing the troubling issue of girl trafficking in Nigeria with Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of NIDCOM. Their dialogue centered on the plight of Adeola George, a young Nigerian woman and daughter of veteran actress, Jumoke George, who was trafficked to Mali and endured a life of hardship before being rescued and returned home with little more than her indomitable spirit and a quiet hope for a brighter future.
Inspired by her bravery, the JAALS Foundation chose to support her not with mere promises but with tangible assistance: a deep freezer and some initial funds to help her start a business. While this may seem modest, for Adeola, it represents a vital opportunity for freedom, a chance to establish her own enterprise, earn a living, and restore her dignity.
Her story is not just one of luck; it exemplifies the potential that arises when organizations like NIDCOM collaborate with the private sector and charitable entities such as the JAALS Foundation to uplift the dignity of Nigerians.
